In this paper, we study the heavy quark potential in STU and -Reissner–Nordstrom backgrounds. We perform the analysis by extremizing the worldsheet of the open string attached to the heavy quark and its antiquark located at the boundary of these geometries. We find that the heavy quark potential is strongly dependent on the black hole charges. In particular, for both backgrounds, increasing the charge leads to increased potential, thus weakening the interaction between heavy quarks. Taking it one step further, we can infer that the inclusion of chemical potential weakens the interaction between heavy quarks in quark gluon plasma.
