Abstract
The branching ratios of the decay of the $\tau$ lepton to five charged hadrons have been measured with the OPAL detector at LEP using data collected between 1991 and 1995 at $\mbox{\rm e}^+\mbox{\rm e}^-$centre-of-mass energies close to the $\mbox{\rm Z}^0$ resonance. The branching ratios are measured to be

\begin{displaymath}
B(\tau^- \rightarrow 3h^-2h^+ \nu_{\tau}) = (0.091\pm 0.014\pm 0.006)\%\end{displaymath}

\begin{displaymath}
B(\tau^- \rightarrow 3h^- 2h^+ \pi^0\nu_{\tau}) = (0.027\pm 0.018\pm 0.009)\%\end{displaymath}

where the first error is statistical and the second systematic.
